If ceaseless online banner ads and sleigh bell-tinged television jingles haven’t made you aware already, we are indeed coming up on the last shopping weekend before Christmas. Shopping locally, you’ll find dozens of unique shops and boutiques from as far up as the North Pole (or the northernmost tip of Greenpoint). Many are offering complimentary libations, along with Christmastide cheap chic.
For the second week, The Grand Adventure highlights fabulous clothing and gift boutiques along Grand Street. Mention the phrase “Grand Adventure” for special treats and discounts.
Also on Grand Street, thru Monday: Greenpoint-based indie music retailer Insound is hosting Design Store, a popup shop choc-a-bloc with vinyl records, turntables, and music memorabilia, including a line of screen-printed t-shirts. The store is open from 4-10pm; with live music and free drinks from 7pm until closing. 303 Grand Street, bet Roebling and Havermeyer. On deck to play this evening are DJs from Kanine Records.
In-store and online: Williamsburg discount shop Peachfrog (on N 10th St bet Bedford and Berry) is greeting shoppers Sat and Sun with free coffee and pastries from 12pm-4pm. More sweetness: become a fan of the store on Facebook for a chance to win a $200 gift certificate.
Onto Sat and into the 11222: Williamsburg’s Mary Meyer Clothing is having a trunk show at 97 Green Street, #G24 (bet Franklin and Manhattan), from 12-7 pm. You’ll be pleased to find discounts on her own line, samples, and free Bloody Marys. While in the neighborhood, stop by Alter (109 Franklin, bet Greenpoint and Milton) for menswear sales, as well as Hayden-Harnett (211 Franklin St, between Freeman and Eagle Sts) for ongoing markdowns of as much as 50%. Hey, it may even turn into a full-on Hayden-Harnett dress-up party—and if playing with clothes won’t get you into the holiday spirit, well—think forward to New Year’s.
