Here is Dave Herman’s farewell letter:
Dear Friends of the City Reliquary,
As many of you now know, my tenure as the President of our organization is now coming to an end. On this Thursday September 16th, 2010 at 7:00 PM we will hold a ceremony at which I will pass on the “Presidential Sash.” After founding the City Reliquary as a humble window display in 2002, it has been my honor to serve as president of the subsequently formed not-for-profit museum & civic organization. The entirety of my eight year, two-term tenure as president was made possible only through the collective efforts of a most outstanding group of individuals who’ve formed the City Reliquary into the public entity that it is today.
Among the most steadfast and reliable of my fellow board members is our Vice President of Collections, Bill Scanga who has been elected to succeed me in the role of President. It is without hesitation that I will pass on the title knowing that our organization could not be placed in any better hands. Bill joined me at the very conception of what the City Reliquary has become today. His personal display of “E.T. Figurines and Vintage Glass Vases” in our April 2004 Community Collections window, set the bar for both the aesthetic standards and accompanying events that the Reliquary would become known for. http://cityreliquary.org/collections/archives/cat_april_2004_bill_scanga.shtml
Since that time, Bill has been a source of ceaseless strength and vision throughout the growth of the City Reliquary. His sincerity of purpose has helped to guide us while we found a unified voice in creating a “Museum For-the-People, Not-for-Profit”. I believe it is this same commitment that Bill has exemplified during the past 6 years, that will help to encourage and propel the City Reliquary into a new era.
So from this point, I wish to thank all of the loyal friends of the City Reliquary who have dutifully read the many emails I’ve sent, and responded incredibly to so many pleas for support. I will proudly remain on the Board of Directors as the “Founder,” and will be happy to offer my guidance and encouragement whenever called upon. However, this will be my last official communication to the list for the purpose of informing and inviting our friends to our events and programs. Thank you to everyone who has paid attention, and supported our efforts. I sincerely hope you will continue to enjoy the programs offered by our organization for many years to come.
Thank you all for helping to make the City Reliquary Museum & Civic Organization possible!
With honor, I am,Always civic,
DaveDave Herman, President
The City Reliquary
Museum and Civic Organization
