More than 600 runners will participate. To present the event, St. Nicks Alliance teamed up with NYCRuns, an organization that organizes races citywide.
Proceeds will benefit afterschool and summer camp programs run by St. Nicks Alliance. Williamsburg/Greenpoint as a “hipster haven,” but most people don’t know that the area, Brooklyn’s Community District 1, has the highest rate of child poverty out of the city’s 59 Community Districts. The need for youth programming is acute, and the proceeds raised by this race will help fill that need.
We see the run as a chance to bring together the neighborhood’s pre-existing and newcomer demographics for the benefit of our local youth.
