According to Inigo Westmeier’s bio, the director of Dragon Girls, he has some serious cinematic chops. He studied at the Film Academy in Moscow, did his graduate studies at Baden-Wuttemberg Film Academy and even had a scholarship to study at the UCLA Extension Entertainment Studies Department. That’s not too shabby of a background in film studies.

Beginning this weekend, Williamsburg Walks comes back for its 6th year. They’ll be shutting down Bedford Avenue to traffic on June 8th, 15th, and 22nd, and reclaiming the street for fun pop-up parks and programming.

VOLUNTEER AT THE WALKS!
Organizers hope to make this year better and bolder than ever, but that means they need your support, your volunteer power, your ideas, and your amazing energy! Volunteers get first dibs on sod to take home at the end of the night!

I Canoe, and You Can, Too! Paddling the NYC Waterways with the North Brooklyn Boat Club

MISSION STATEMENT: “The North Brooklyn Boat Club is dedicated to enabling and advocating for human-powered boating on the waterways bordering Greenpoint/Williamsburg Brooklyn.”

Paddle up the East River to the Roosevelt Island bridge, paddle Newtown Creek, paddle to the tip of Roosevelt Island, edge around the lighthouse and take the West Channel of the East River back to North Brooklyn. Paddle with the current to Bushwick Inlet, hang awhile and spot the resident birds, then return to Greenpoint with the current.
