If you can harken all the way back to Tuesday, and by Tuesday, we mean yesterday, you’ll remember reading that La Poisson Rouge hosted an event to rally for fair pay for radio play for musical artists.
Who knew that if you stopped by for $5 well drinks you might get a view of a David Byrne / Biz Markie moment?
Well, nobody knew, really, obviously, but Stereogum weighed in, was promptly schooled by David Haglun at Slate, who had just himself been schooled via tweet by Future of Music, and we read it all and no matter how confusing it got, we really only wished we had been there.
@dbhaglund to clarify, last night's event wasn't about streaming royalties or sampling. It was about radio royalties!
