On Tuesday, April 1st, 2014, the NYC Council Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises will be holding a PUBLIC HEARING on the Domino Sugar redevelopment proposal by Two Trees Management. El Puente, alongside a coalition of fellow community organizations has been following the project’s progression and, at every turn, advocating for community benefits. We want to make sure the community gets the best deal possible!
For those that are interested in speaking, El Puente will be hosting a community orientation to the Domino project on Monday at 6:30pm at 211 S. 4th Street. PLEASE RSVP TO SIGN UP, AND LET US KNOW IF YOU WILL BE THERE ON TUESDAY!
Earlier this month, Mayor de Blasio set a good precedent by ensuring that 537,000 sf of affordable housing are built. However, there is still work to be done. We need to make sure the affordable housing is affordable to low income residents. We need to make sure we’re getting as much quality open space as possible. And, we need to make sure we get local jobs in the process.
So, we need YOU to turn out on Tuesday and show the City Council what our community needs! The hearing starts at 9:30am on Tuesday morning in City Council chambers, but please arrive at 9am to make sure you can get in and sign up to speak.
This is the community’s last opportunity to voice our concerns and needs, so let’s do this!
