Throw Back Thursday: Make yourself a Margabucha

margabucha recipe from one stop beer shop

Two years ago, Pamela Rossi of One Stop Beer Shop shared her recipe for a kombucha margarita, and we think it’s genius. Detox while you toxify, or toxify while you detox. Whatever you do, try this drink——it’s absolutely DELICIOUS. Today’s throwback:

“I wanted to create a drink with the pleasures of a tall, cool, fruity, salty margarita, and just the right kickstart to a 5 o’clock Friday night out, sans the calories. But why stop there? I decided to incorporate a probiotic drink to satisfy not only the “skinny girl” margarita goers, but our health conscious cravers too.  Born is Margabucha: Only 70 cals with the healthful benefits of kombucha!”

Titus Andronicus, Eggulls for Northside Festival at Warsaw

June 12, 2014 By WG News + Arts Leave a Comment

“NJ punks Titus Andronicus always put on consistently great live shows, and lately they’ve been pretty generous with new material from their still-in-the-works rock opera. Of course we’ll hear the old favorites (and maybe a few covers) too. UK post-punks Eagulls are still a bit one-dimensional with their sound (they only have one album and one EP), but they do that sound well and make this a great double bill. It’s worth showing up for the local openers too.” [ Brooklyn Vegan ]

Tricot at Reverse Space, Acoustic Formulae Series

June 12, 2014 By WG News + Arts Leave a Comment

“Acoustic formulae” brings together a group of sound artists who work with formulas as outsets for improvisation. Tricot’s (Thessia Machado and Merche Blasco) installation re(p)l(a)y is a sculptural platform that acts as a dynamic score instrument for the exchange of musical events in electroacoustic improvisation.

Throughout the exhibition, several artists will be invited to, via installation and performance, interact with and respond to re(p)l(a)y, exploring novel formulas in tangible sonic dialogue.

Merche Blasco is a multimedia Spanish artist based in NY. She relies on technology to enhance her physical and expressive capabilities on stage, creating assemblages that allow her performative self to sound and move beyond her limits, imagining how electronic music performance could be or how performers could feel.
