The first ever Rattled Expo takes place tomorrow at the Warsaw in (where else?) Greepoint. What is it? It’s a unique event for young, urban families; according to Rattled co-founder Tara Arjona, Rattled’s targeted market is people who “… love locally-made, and handmade goods. They’re not into mainstream products and services.”
Products for sale will include handcrafted bronze and silver baby figurines made by Williamsburg sculptor Brian Sullivan. He’s been making the pieces for more than two decades and co-owns Brooklyn Bambini with his wife, Kelley Shields.
Sullivan crafted his first baby statue in 1996, and gave it to his wife as a labor talisman, meant for her to hold on to while giving birth to their first child.

Since then, Shields and Sullivan have had another child, and Brooklyn Bambini sculptures have become adopted as commemorations of the birth of family. The sculptures can be engraved with the newborn’s name and date of birth; as original works of fine art, they are instant heirlooms that make the perfect gift.
Rattled Expo takes place Sunday Aug. 24, from noon – 4 pm at The Warsaw, 261 Driggs Ave. Brooklyn. Entry is $5 per adult, kids are free. Tickets at the door or at Eventbrite.
