With just nine days left until their big event, hundreds of organizers and volunteers with the People’s Climate March are hitting the streets of NYC to promote what promises to be the largest climate march in history.
In September, world leaders are coming to New York City for a UN summit on the climate crisis. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is urging governments to support an ambitious global agreement to dramatically reduce global warming pollution.

As NYC gears up for a new season of art openings and events, many galleries in the historic neighborhood of Greenpoint, Brooklyn will open their doors to art seekers from near and far. Two local gallery directors, Lia Post of Fowler Project Space and Scott Chasse of Calico, have once again teamed up to organize “Greenpoint Gallery Night” for Friday, Sept 12th, from 7-10pm.
GGN is an ongoing effort to shed light on Greenpoint’s exceptional galleries, art organizations, and businesses that feature artwork. Participating locations have scheduled opening receptions and extended hours to coincide with the event.

“Brighton Beach is one of the biggest Russian-speaking communities on the east coast. ATI took a trip down there last week. As we sat adjacent to the Atlantic, drinking Baltika beers and hearing the Russian chatter around us, it was hard not to feel transported to another world.”

Art double-headers: Like John Lurie’s opening of an exhibition of his prints on the same night as a performance of his Strange and Beautiful music at le poisson rouge, an exhibition of new works by artist Wayne White will be presented in conjunction with a screening of Beauty is Embarrassing, the 2009 documentary about White’s career as an artist.
