The local home design store Grace & Favor is pleased to announce the arrival of a range of pre-pasted removable wallpapers, including “Brooklyn Toile.”
The mastermind behind the design is Mike Diamond of the Beastie Boys. He wanted a toile wallpaper to line the walls of his Brooklyn brownstone; his vision was to pay tribute to all things Brooklyn in a way that would appear to be a traditional French Country Toile, “but take a close look, and you’ll see that the pattern reveals elements and vignettes that make up the truth about Brooklyn.” It captures many angles of life in the borough of Kings, from Coney Island to Hasidic Jews to Notorious B.I.G., the local subways, and pigeons, in poetic fashion.
Mike approached Vincent J. Ficarra and Adela Qersaqi of Revolver New York to help execute his vision, and Flavor Paper produced the design as wallpaper.
