Despite cries of outrage from local residents, Hollywood studios keep filming in Greenpoint. While it may make parking an even bigger pain in the ass than it already is, and disrupt local business, I’m still all for it. If only for one thing; the chance to watch Tracey Morgan in action. That’s right, those signs plastered all over Nassau and Norman Ave that say you can’t park here beginning today, and ending Monday July 13th, are due to the fact that Kevin Smith is filming his new movie A Couple of Dicks in Greenpoint.
The Warner Bros. production, which is filming under the working title A Couple of Cops, stars Bruce Willis, Jason Lee, Stifler (aka Seann William Scott), Adam Brody, Kevin Pollak, and, yes, Mr. Tracey Morgan. Scheduled to hit theatres in 2010, A Couple of Dicks is described by IMDB as “a comedy about two cops whose adventures include locating a stolen baseball card, rescuing a woman, and dealing with gangsters and their laundered money.” Those two cops are played by none other than Willis and Morgan, so you can expect shenanigans of the highest regard. The film will begin prepping a scene today, with shooting scheduled to start tomorrow and end Monday. That’s a lot of shooting and they’ve sequestered quite a bit of area for the scene too. Which, to me, means one thing; Smith is shooting a massive chase scene, which totally makes sense, as A Couple of Dicks is a cop-based action-buddy comedy.
