artcrank 2014 invite cardAir-conditioning, beer, and poster art – it’s a go for ArtCrank NYC 2014 as a WG Pick. After a pair of packed-to-the-rafters SoHo openings the past two years, ArtCrank — an international pop-up show of bicycle-inspired posters — is headed across the East River to Brooklyn Brewery for what’s shaping up to be its biggest NYC show yet. The one-night event will feature limited edition work by 30 local artists on Thursday, September 4 from 5pm – 10pm. Signed and numbered copies of all posters are available for $50 each, and admission is free.

Shinola Bicycles of Detroit will be on hand to show off its American made, handcrafted bikes, watches and accessories, which are works of art in their own right.

Sept 4, 5-10pm, free

“The Brooklyn-ite’s debut album wondrously fits the space that had been empty since jazz-country genius Danny Gatton. It’s the closest that modern music fans might get to a fretboard meeting between New York City and Nashville.” —Todd Lazarski, Express Milwaukee

Jason Loughlin, owner of the Bedford Avenue based independent label Big Pop Records, has supported artists such as Amos Lee, Rachael Yamagata, Nellie McKay, Lesley Gore, Mike Viola and the Sweetback Sisters, to name a few. Downbeat Magazine calls him “an instrumentalist of great range, taste and joy”.
