Crafted from over 3,000 animated GIFs, twohundredfiftysixcolors is an expansive and revealing portrait of what has become a zeitgeist medium. Once used primarily as an Internet page signpost, the file type has evolved into a nimble and ubiquitous tool for addressing everything from politics to pop-culture, madison ave to main st., and the labyrinthine multiverse of sub-cultures to the art world’s white cube. The film is a curated archive that functions as a historical document charting the GIF’s evolution, its connections to early cinema, and its contemporary cultural, political, and aesthetic possibilities.

“Soft pressure is a tactic that uses almost unconscious modes of cultural/social domination occurring within the every-day habits maintained over conscious subjects. The more artfully the propaganda is camouflaged, the more it imperceptibly penetrates without being protested. These are the shrouded encounters at hand.”
“In Pressure Point I have brought together artists to demonstrate, with their concise concepts and skillful use of medium, an experiential analogy for the precision, knowledge, and dignity of kung fu and its soft pressure. The outcome is charged, collected, and delicately deadly.” -Alexandra Drewchin

Ten Bones Theatre Company puts eight actors in front of a room full of drunks and forces them to recreate the movie “Pyscho” entirely from memory. There are only three rules:
1.) They must incorporate lines written by the audience.
2.) They must incorporate any sound effect played by the host.
3.) One lucky audience member is given a horn that they may honk three times. Once honked, the performers must create a scene that makes perfect sense given where they are in the story but that has no business being in the story of Psycho.
It will be as unintentionally funny and as accidentally horrifying as the remake with Vince Vaughn.
